Bound for Freedom was put together from two journal entries from June 2008. I left out this paragraph:
New Autobiography: How I went from traumatized baby to Shambhala Warrior in 5? or was it 7 difficult years. It’s so amazing to read back and find the pieces, like building blocks. Hidden from me by chaos and the pain and overwhelm of my life, I can see them clearly from where I am now — it’s a bit like looking back at the trip with Ricky and seeing how new support people kept showing up even tho my lack of faith in the process had me focused on the loss of the last one.
I was so excited by how well I was feeling, and did what I often do, began to make a book out of relevant journal entries. Unfortunately this document got lost along the way. It’s also true that this excitement was in early summer 2008. By fall I had tried to get off medication, gotten overtired, and crashed so badly that it was two years before I really began to emerge. This perennial project, of trying to make a book out of related journal entries, and especially looking for times when I was full of energy and confidence, and stringing them together as though there weren’t bad crashes in between. Now I think this blog is a much more appropriate form, allowing for past entries and current understandings to be loosely mixed together.
See post for May 30, 2010, called “Voice from the Past” or page about Journal Background, for more about this perennial project.
