I choose to trust…

“Choosing to trust that this life matters and we’re all connected and this is all headed somewhere has made my life way, way better.”
Rob Bell, What We Talk About When We Talk About God.   p125

I’ve modified this for myself into a prayer, or an affirmation, or an intention.  I say it a number of different ways.  I seem to have returned (do I dare say this?) to having “days of grace.”  I’m so thankful, so thankful.

I choose to trust that I matter, and I’m connected to everybody and we’re all headed somewhere.

I choose to trust that I matter to the universe…

Saying that made me realize that I visualize the universe as something much bigger than god, and totally impersonal.  I realize that I see god as local, yes he made the sun and the moon and the stars, but most of the stars we see are our neighbors in the Milky Way galaxy.  I need to improve my idea of the universe and my idea of god.  Actually, I have improved my idea of the universe and god, but it hasn’t become experience yet.

…that I matter to the universe, that the universe needs my shape to be complete, that the universe planted me as a unique seed and waits with delight for the individual who will emerge…

…that we are all connected, that I am connected with everybody, that I am connected with everything…

…that we are all going somewhere, somewhere positive, we are headed for consciousness and compassion, the arc of the universe bends toward peace, justice and sustainability…
