\n\tI continue to be surprised at how well the Ritual of Letting Go worked. I do believe in the power of ritual but mostly I don\u2019t see immediate results. I\u2019ve continued to feel better: strong, confident, content with my life. I\u2019ve had a few dips of mood but they haven\u2019t turned into a downward spiral. People have told me that my voice sounds different, stronger.
\n\tI described the ritual to Elizabeth and she said I\u2019d been working up to it for a long time, which is true. She also wondered why it had been so effective. Part of it was reading the July 4th Monologue to an audience. I\u2019d only read it to individuals before. Then the group had a lot of excitement and energy for burning the braid of misery, destroying it COMPLETELY, and they helped make it happen. And everybody dancing \u201cBound for Freedom\u201d with me. The group support really meant a lot. I\u2019ve had to do so many things alone. Lee Ann\u2019s celebration with the cupcakes was a quite wonderful way to end. Someone besides me did it. And it looked to the future. The three parts of my ritual were more about letting go and walking away from the past. I couldn\u2019t imagine what new things I might want to do with the liberated energy.
\n\tElizabeth said she wished I could make a homeopathic medicine from the ritual so I would have it to use when my spirits dropped. I thought that was a great idea, and I remembered that one of my support team had taken pictures of us gathered around the fire. The picture will be a reminder of the energy that got freed in the ritual.
