Therapy session with Erica:<\/p>\n
She tells me \u201cIt\u2019s really OK to just be here with how it is, change happens all by itself, we don\u2019t have to make it happen.\u00a0 <\/span>Clarity arises out of giving permission to things to be as they are.\u201d<\/p>\n I tell her that a part says it\u2019s unhappy, experiences being lost, alone. It is so scary being alone. I\u2019m aware of being connected with Erica on the phone.\u00a0 <\/span>I tell the part it is not alone –\u00a0 <\/span>connected to me and Erica.<\/p>\n This is a young part that\u2019s accustomed to being left alone \u2014experiences me as backing off.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s not used to someone taking responsibility as an\u201cadult.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>When I do that, the part relaxes.<\/p>\n Part says it\u2019s scary when it\u2019s not connected to me.\u00a0 <\/span>I tell it to stay with my breath, and I hum.\u00a0 <\/span>Part feels somewhat connected, but because of its experience of being abandoned, it has good reason to not trust that I will be there.<\/p>\n Part says it feels me go away.\u00a0 <\/span>I say and that\u2019s scary for you.\u00a0 <\/span>What do you notice when you feel me go away?\u00a0 <\/span>Part says it feels a difference between when I\u2019m alone and when I\u2019m at meals with other people.<\/p>\n I tell the part that I feel different, too, when I\u2019m with people and not alone.\u00a0 <\/span>Being alone is a real issue for both of us.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" August 29 Therapy session with Erica: She tells me \u201cIt\u2019s really OK to just be here with how it is, change happens all by itself, we don\u2019t have to make it happen.\u00a0 Clarity arises out of giving permission to things … Continue reading
