{"id":7079,"date":"2021-05-07T10:02:04","date_gmt":"2021-05-07T14:02:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jennydeupree.com\/?p=7079"},"modified":"2021-05-07T10:02:04","modified_gmt":"2021-05-07T14:02:04","slug":"still-there-will-be-kindness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jennydeupree.com\/?p=7079","title":{"rendered":"Still There Will be Kindness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jennydeupree.com\/?p=6799\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WholeHeart<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>The poem was \u201cA Cure Against Poisonous Thought\u201d by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.annielighthart.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Annie Lighthart<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Believe the world goes on<br \/>\nand this bee bending<br \/>\nin honeysuckle just one<br \/>\nof a mighty nation, golden<br \/>\nbeads thrumming<br \/>\na long invisible thread.<\/p>\n<p>In the green drift of an afternoon,<br \/>\nthe body is not root but wick:<br \/>\nthe press of light surrounds it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The lines that struck me are \u201cBelieve the world goes on\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cThe body is not root but wick\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I wrote: I wish the line about the bee did not remind me that our poisons are destroying huge numbers of them.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Believe the world goes on anyway.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>That kindness and caring can still happen, that we can at least accompany someone in their pain even when we can\u2019t make it better.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>That we can extend caring and blessing and lovingkindness to everyone we meet without having to say anything.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The body is not root but wick \u2014 when the candle is lit, who looks at the wick?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The body burns fuel for living, what light does our living shed on the world?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s true, we may not be able to save the bees, or the whales, or the elephants.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The planet may continue to heat up, storms and floods will destroy people as well as animals and plants and coral reefs.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Increasing pandemics will kill a lot of humans.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>But those who are left will still meet around campfires, singing whatever songs we can remember, still there will be kindness.<\/p>\n<p>This writing seemed very significant to me. \u00a0I&#8217;m able to accept that things might not get better, but also to affirm that kindness will still exist. \u00a0Since I wrote this from another side of myself, it&#8217;s like a guidance writing. \u00a0The seed of god in me said the words and I wrote them down.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WholeHeart: The poem was \u201cA Cure Against Poisonous Thought\u201d by Annie Lighthart Believe the world goes on and this bee bending in honeysuckle just one of a mighty nation, golden beads thrumming a long invisible thread.
