I went to the Wounded Warrior page<\/a> intending to make a donation, but the story of the woman who lost both legs was that she was proud of her sacrifice because she was defending America.\u00a0 I can\u2019t support that lie.\u00a0 But can I tell her that her legs were lost in service to the war industries owned by the 1%?\u00a0 She needs her denial in order to feel OK about what\u2019s happened to her.\u00a0 And I\u2019m sure that\u2019s what\u2019s behind the people who are afraid of an \u201cIslamic Jihad.\u201d\u00a0 They have to believe in it so they can feel OK about the wars that our taxes are paying for.\u00a0 I know, at some level, they know it\u2019s not true that the wars are protecting America, but like the alcoholic who can\u2019t give up his addiction, they have to stay in denial.\u00a0 I think that\u2019s the saddest thing of all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
