It\u2019s called A New Earth.\u00a0 So far I\u2019ve been agreeing with what he says.\u00a0 He talked about ego and the problem of identifying one\u2019s \u201cself\u201d with objects, dogmas, even one\u2019s own body.\u00a0 I think of the work I do when I take a big step back and try to describe myself objectively.\u00a0 Also when I stand back and look at \u201cthis little group of jennys, bless them.\u201d I\u2019m not identified with any of them, nor do I have any requirement that they should not change, or should shape up.\u00a0 I think about when somebody quoted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kripalvanandayogainstitute.org\/bio.html\" target=\"_blank\">Swami Kripalvananda<\/a>\u2019s answer to the question \u201cwhat is the highest level of spiritual practice?\u201d and he said \u201cself-observation without judgement.\u201d I was horrified.\u00a0 I was still trying to achieve something that would prove that I deserved to live, and I thought that taking time to look at myself was \u201cbad\u201d.\u00a0 I think the idea must have planted itself like a seed, helped along by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nonviolent_Communication#OFNR_process_model\" target=\"_blank\">NVC<\/a>\u2019s practice of non-judgement \u2014 \u201cobservation without evaluation,\u201d until now when I actually manage to do it a lot of the time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Written in February 2010) On a friend\u2019s recommendation I got Tolle\u2019s new book at the Library.
