<\/a>(The process took from April to July 2006)\nPainted all day with group in Marshfield. Really got into the colors.\u00a0 Except for a pink bunny \u2014 and a tree\u2014 there were no recognizable shapes.\u00a0 I enjoyed the process.\u00a0 At one point I got stuck.\u00a0 Sue suggested painting details so I did.\u00a0 Then I began to see what needed to happen with a patch, so that the painting began to refine itself, get more cohesive.\u00a0 The result was a combination of heaviness groundedness-earthiness and a light bubbly quality.\u00a0 Reminded me of my mountain with all the tiny helium balloons.\u00a0 (Too bad I don’t have a picture of it.)<\/p>\n
Took the pink rabbit to Lore.\u00a0 I had gotten a sense that the rabbit represented an irrepressable part of me that is \u201cstill going\u201d despite all attempts to squash it.\u00a0 Behind it is chaos which becomes a primitive sea creature and a tree, backed up by the tree, the rabbit is headed away from the chaos and into new territory.\u00a0 Lore confirmed this reading.<\/p>\n
Saw Lore yesterday.\u00a0 Told her I\u2019d gotten to \u201can edge\u201d, the place where if I start to feel beautiful, creative, talented \u2014 I shrink in fear of being attacked.\u00a0 Lore said \u201cDraw the edge.\u201d I said \u201cNooooo\u201d crouching and rolling like Bella.\u00a0 Then I conceeded it was worth a try.\u00a0 She got out a roll of brown paper and a big box of crayons.\u00a0 I began with an explosion of color, and then it was squashed by \u201cDon\u2019t think you\u2019re so great.\u201d\u00a0 The story went on in surprising ways.\u00a0 I hadn\u2019t finished it when time was up, so she cut off a lot of brown paper so I could finish it at home.\u00a0 I\u2019ll have to get a box of real crayons.\u00a0 She made me shift to my left hand, tho I don\u2019t think it makes that much difference.\u00a0 The same one got out who made the self portrait.\u00a0 Angry, spunky, outrageous \u2014 the tough little drip that just wouldn\u2019t quit \u2014 I drew a pink bunny under the first round of oppression.\u00a0 Lore suggested google images, so I went there and got one and printed out a page of 9.\u00a0 Tee hee.<\/p>\n
The “Torah of Jenny” was a project that I started with an art therapist, Lore Caldwell, who I was seeing in Littleton.\u00a0 She started me with a roll of brown paper, and it turned out to be my life as … Continue reading <\/a>Went to Lore yesterday and worked some more on the Torah of Jenny.\u00a0 It was fun.\u00a0 Whoever that feisty little person inside is, she knows what she wants to say.\u00a0 I ran out of steam after about an hour.\u00a0 But I think it\u2019s her liberation that\u2019s creating more energy in my life.<\/p>\n<\/a>Saw Lore \u2014 did another chapter of the Torah of Jenny.\u00a0 It\u2019s hard work \u2014 I\u2019m tired after an hour.\u00a0 But I know it\u2019s important to keep going \u2014 it\u2019s really freeing up that rebellious, obnoxious, feisty energy.\u00a0 I was wondering who I would have been without the trauma and dysfunction, somebody a lot more abrasive perhaps, without any compassion \u2014 and she popped up, said \u201cI am compassionate, I fight for the downtrodden, the outcasts, the oppressed… \u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Right.\u00a0 I always have been a fighter, at least in my thinking, from seeing how Betsy Dixon was discriminated against in 8th Grade History class to Journey into Courage.<\/p>\n<\/a>Saw Lore yesterday.\u00a0 Worked some more on the \u201cTorah of Jenny\u201d.\u00a0 The Great Depression of 1970.\u00a0 Could not remember for a while what brought me out of it \u2014 but it was my brother Jack saying \u201cBuddha says life is suffering\u201d and I hit bottom with a tangible thump. No longer thrashing in the swamp of depression.<\/p>\n<\/a>I finished it in the spring of 2007, so it could be in a show at Springfield College, where Lore is a teacher.
