I continue to be surprised that telling the truth about how I feel and sharing it results in me feeling a lot better.\u00a0\u00a0 Once I wrote a letter to my brother about how depressed I was feeling and the same thing happened, even before I got a kind reply.\u00a0 I think perhaps it works as \u201cobservation without evaluation\u201d which is a key concept in NonViolent Communication<\/a>.\u00a0 Just describing objectively what\u2019s going on for me sidetracks my tendency to make myself wrong for how I\u2019m feeling.\u00a0 The other lovely thing about the blog is just publishing what I\u2019m going through is like reading my journal to a friendly witness.<\/p>\n

The other thing I did hoping to help myself get past my discouragement with the political idiocy was to read again Sharif Abdullah<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0 Creating a World that Works for All. The first part is painful because he describes what I call the \u201congoing disaster\u201d and he calls \u201cThe Mess\u201d with intelligence and concern, and forces me again to see how bad it really is.\u00a0 And how intertwined the pieces are.\u00a0 Then I got to Part 3 where he talks about what we can do about it. It starts with this marvelous quote:<\/p>\n

What is hope? Ah yes, this is what I so easily forget when I get triggered, that Western Culture\u2019s idea of reality is so limited, that the realm of spirit does exist, and that miracles happen every day.<\/p>\n
